Stepper Cards

Postby Katharine » Wed Mar 28, 2012 7:47 pm

I have just put a stepper card in the Gallery. I have put reinforcing struts inside so that it doesn't open out too far - that always seems to be a problem with mine. Should I be using heavier card stock?

Pretty card, Katharine!

I bought a packet of card creased for stepper cards. As I have never made one I thought I would give it a go and was astonished at the huge size of them! Decided to cut each card into 3 ordinary sized ones instead. The point of this rant is that the card is quite a lot stiffer than I usually buy so maybe that IS what is needed. Of course, it might just be the pack I bought....and why it was in a sale!

THanks Barbara - my steppers start as a sheet of A4 card folded in half, so an A5 card - yes they are bigger than most of my cards. This time I wanted the illusion of the swing so cut to give two high sides.

Lovely card Katharine, she will love it!
I find that steppers do need a firmer card especially as toppers of some description go onto the usual steps.
I have had a few of mine end up flattened!

I usually use 300 to 350 gsm cardstock anyway and have never had them flatten - perhaps the recipients don't keep them on show that long :D
I quite often start with an A5 card to do my stepper cards so they become A6 size, occasionally do an A4 but not often. Perhaps the smaller size is not so inclined to flatten??
It is a lovely card Katharine :)
