putting sound in cards

Postby steffi » Fri May 11, 2012 10:06 am

Has anyone done this? My friend went on and on this year about how she wasn't going to forget my anniversary, I always remember hers and make them a card (well its our hobby) and she feels bad as she always forgets. No matter how much I re-assured her that it didn't matter and not to worry, she insisted she would get one.......and then forgot and sent me a text saying happy anniversary much to both our amusement.

Her anniversary is coming up and I want to make her a card with an image of a mobile inside with the words happy anniversary as though sent by text, but I thought it would be great if I could get the card to make the noise of a mobile when it opens. I believe its possible but I am not sure what I am looking for. Any tips?

Steffi, you can buy sound chips that will let you record @10 secs of sound and then you attach it to the inside of a card. I've seen some somewhere but can't think where now. perhaps Mr Google could help? Try 'sound chips for greeting cards' or 'add a voice message to your greeting card'. If that search proves too expensive you could always buy one of those cards where you record your own message & carefully take off the sound chip (making sure you note how the thing is attached to the card).

I've found the sound chip idea and also they do a blank card with it all installed and you record your message etc. Its about £6 though, not sure if it might be cheaper undoing one like you said, will have to look thanks.

Just wondered if anyone had actually done one?

Just an update, I bought the plain white card all set up to record your own message. You press the red button to record and the blue one to play. You can re-record up to 200 times, which was good for me as I couldn't quite get what I wanted, which was either a nokia ringtone noise, or a voice giving the message. In the end I put a simple congratulations on the outside of the card and then inside the message 'you have 1 new message' then an arrow pointing to a mobile phone die cut. When pressed its my voice (hated that bit) giving and anniversary greeting.

Anyway will let you know the reaction as my friend is coming around today .

Also I am going to put the card in the gallery now.

well due to a rookie mistake my friend spent several minutes trying to pull the mobile phone image up thinking the message was underneath. #-o But eventually she twigged and she thought it was brilliant. Only thing is her 8 year old loves constantly pressing it, so my voice keeps coming out all the time. I thought about that but wasn't really sure how to get around it. Anyway I have to say over all it was a bit pricey (around £6 for the blank card) but definitely fun for a one off card for someone specific.
