IMAGEPAC SYSTEM

Postby Annie » Sat Jul 29, 2006 5:45 pm

I have just treated myself to the new Imagepac rubber stamp system, which enables you to make your own rubber stamps and its absolutely brilliant. I would be interested to know whether anyone else has also bought one of these systems.
What is so brilliant is that you can make your own rubber stamps to fit on dominoes, ATC's etc.

Ooooohhhh!! I so want one of these - but will have to wait a while I think. Possibly as this year is whizzing by so fast I could probably wait a bit longer and pop it on my thingymas wish list.

If you google 'imagepac daylight' you should be able to find a supplier.

I have been so tempted - what with my birthday money still unspent since May - but I know it would be something that would stay in its box.

However, a tidy sum can be made by selling made stamps on auction sites, so a little business could be booming if you play your cards right.
Take care

I've got one. Have made a few decent stamps with it. Especially some small "tapestry" style stamps which worked beautifully.

I had a few early disasters though but Paul at Imagepac was brilliant and sent me two replacement gel packs. Imagepac is also producing a CD to help turn images into negatives. Email them for more info.

The only problem I have found is that you have to use the proper inkjet acetate (as supplied with the system when purchasing it). I have wasted money on ordinary inkject acetate and this did not give a dense, black background which is essential to get a good stamp.

I've got one and I love it. It's fantastic for text stamps. I love being able to make text or quotes suitable to go with other stamps I have.

Getting art work suitable for making in to stamps can be a little tricky. I'm not an artist and I don't draw. Finding suitable art work and converting it to a negative could be a problem if you are not a dab hand with scanning and something like photoshop. Text is simple using word.

I bought massive pack of transparencies (I use a laser printer) to print the negatives on direct from xerox which worked out cheaper than buying the imagepac ones.

I give this system a definite thumbs up. \:D/

Have just been given a really good tip on how to produce nice, crisp, black negatives.

Instead of using the transparency setting when printing, just use the ordinary paper setting plus high/best quality print setting.

I tried this today with ordinary inket film (not the "special" film which Imagepac supplies) and got really good, black negatives.

Also make sure that your black ink cartridge is reasonably full.

Haven't made any stamps with them yet but I hope I will get some good results.

I have now managed to produce some lovely image stamps from my negatives.

However I'm having real problems creating text stamps. They never seem to be very raised up. I tend to type a line of text in a text box and reverse it and put a thin, black border around it. I then cut it to use as a negative. Could it be I am not putting enough black border around the text?

Any help would be appreciated.

I've had the best success with text.

It sounds like I do similar to you. I also use text boxes. I use a black infill for the text box and use white text. I'm not sure what you mean by a thin black border. I just make sure the text box is big enough for the text to have some black space around it. You do need to leave a good border around the text. Sometimes it helps to 'centre' it or use a couple of spaces around the text to position it well. If I'm doing more than one set of text to fill up the space on a sachet, I use a new text box for each set of text. I turn the text boxes around and jiggle them about for the best fit. Then fill in any white spaces with just infilled black empty text boxes to creat a decent black background.

When I think it's right I print it out on normal paper, hold a piece of scrap paper over it, folded to the size of the sachet I'm going to use to check it all will fit OK.

Hope I've made sense.

Thanks Nicki. I will try putting a wider black area around my text. Hopefully I will then get good text stamps.
