After one disaster using the paper method, I contacted Imagepac and they gave me some guidelines on how to produce the negatives. Print using "standard" ink setting and matte photo paper setting. They also thought there was probably too much natural light coming into the room.
I tried this and have now made a super stamp out of some old white cotton lace flowers (a strip of the little daisies and a strip of some larger flowers).
I made my stamp using the old system and old sachets. I also pulled the curtains which made the room darker. The timings were exactly the same as when using acetate negatives.
You can only use the paper negatives once though.

Thanks Diane for sharing this info. Congrats on producing a lovely stamp, I hope to see it in the gallery sometime!
I got the very basic kit, and hope to try it out over Christmas! Your post was encouraging!.

If you do hit any problems - Imagepac are wonderfully helpful.
As I said before the really important thing is to block out as much natural light as possible. This is the key to getting a good image.
